Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) is a state-funded program that provides prekindergarten education for four year olds. There is no charge to parents for this program, and parents are free to choose their VPK provider. (There is a charge for children who remain for a reduced day or full day, which is termed wrap-around.)
School-year VPK is 540 hours, delivered 3 hours per
day for the 180 days of the St. Johns County Public Schools Calendar.
Summer VPK is a 300-hour program, and we are one of the few providers in the
County to offer it. In fact, the St. Johns County public schools contracted
with us to deliver Summer VPK to their students in 2008.
The Village Academy has been the largest provider of VPK classes in St Johns County. We have invested heavily in this program to deliver the best possible education for your child. The same curriculum is offered at the Village Academy North. Our School Year VPK program includes:
- 10-student and 18-student classes, with the latter having both a teacher and an aide
- The same curriculum as St Johns County public schools (Houghton Mifflin), so your child will make an easy transition to Kindergarten. We are the only VPK provider in St Johns County that has invested in the Houghton Mifflin pre-K curriculum.
- A “wrap-around” program to provide reduced-day or all-day educational enrichment (parent-funded)

Unique weekly Enrichment classes in Drama, Spanish, Sign Language, and Tumbling/Gymnastics.
