About Us

We like to say that we are a new building, not a new school. The Village Academy was originally founded in 1981 as Children's Village. Through 27 successful years we have grown to a 4-acre campus that provides over 17,000 square feet of educational space for the nurturing and development of your child - academically, physically, and socially. St. Augustine and St Johns County have also grown, and it is time for us to provide our award-winning early childhood education programs to the businesses and communities of the US-1 corridor, north of the airport.

We are particularly proud of our staff, which is the most highly trained and qualified of any child care facility in St Johns County. We only hire dedicated, caring professionals because we know we have to earn your trust every day.

The Village Academy is a nationally accredited institution. The Village Academy North will be similarly accredited, after we have been open the required one year.

Babette (Kamm) Weaver - Owner/Director
The Village Academy - The Village Academy is a curriculum-driven learning institution that provides children ages 6 weeks through first grade with a true jumpstart in education through early childhood programs.
Babette (Kamm) Weaver is the Owner and Director of The Village Academy. Babette taught in public school for eight years prior to founding The Village Academy, originally Children's Village, in 1981. Her educational credentials include a B.S. from Northwestern University and a Masters in Education from UNF. Babette holds teacher certifications in Deaf Education; Elementary Education; and Elementary Education Administration and Supervision. She also has the Advanced Level Florida Child Care and Education Program Director Credential.
